Hello, my name is Tommy and I’m a lovely little four-month-old guinea pig.

I was brought into the National Animal Welfare Trust in June as my owners could no longer care for me.

I’m quite a nervous little lad who would really like someone who has lots of time to handle me and show me that humans aren’t so scary.

I used to share a home with my big brothers but they picked on me so now I’m looking for a new home with a gentle friend to stop me feeling lonely.

Watford Observer:

We guinea pigs are very sociable and are at our happiest living with other guinea pigs. (But make sure we’re the same sex if you don’t want any babies!)

I could live either indoors or outdoors and I wouldn’t mind living with adults or a family with children of any age, where the adults would do most of the handling. I do really enjoy attention when I’m held securely but I can be a bit wriggly when I’m not that comfortable.

We piggies mainly eat fresh hay to wear down our constantly-growing teeth, a little fruit and plenty of fresh, leafy vegetables. As we can’t make our own Vitamin C, many owners also give us a supplement.
