TK Maxx welcomed its first customers into its brand new shop in Watford today.

Shoppers rose bright and early for the eagerly-waited opening of the store in Century Retail Park.

Store manager Joanna Kromidias was invited to cut the ribbon at 9am to mark the official launch of the branch.

The bright and airy store features all of TK Maxx’s usual ranges with a selection of products over two floors.

There are clothing sections for women, men and, children, including sportswear and swimwear.

The store comes with a large home range on the top floor, with kitchen and bathroom products to browse.

There’s also a deli section, pet products, stationery, DIY, toy and a baby section.

Beauty products can be found on the ground floor along with shoes.

Fatima Qabool, from Stanmore, had the honour of being the first customer inside the new store.

She said: “I really like TK Maxx. The brand and the designs are really good, especially the bags and the perfume section.

“It’s very nice and clean here and there has been great hospitality. I’m happy to be the first shopper.”

Fellow shopper Veronica Ostrafe said: “I like it, it’s really good here. I’ll definitely be telling my family and friends to visit.”

The new store has brought 55 jobs to the town with the new TK Maxx store situated on the edge of the retail park next door to Aldi.

TK Maxx owners TJX, which is based in Watford, says its current store in St Albans Road will be staying open for now but it’s believed the store is set to eventually close with the site primed for a redevelopment of around 1,200 flats.

The Range will also be leaving St Albans Road.

A new Range store will open at 9am tomorrow (June 25) inside the former Mothercare store at Watford Arches Retail Park.
