Police have been stepping up efforts to catch speeding motorists after concerns were raised by residents.

Officers have carried out several operations across Three Rivers since the beginning of June.

They have stationed themselves in areas where locals have reported speeding to be a problem - and numerous drivers have been stung by the officers' speed traps.

Since the beginning of last month, Hertfordshire Constabulary has targeted locations in Abbots Langley, Croxley Green, Oxhey, Northwood, Carpenders Park, Mill End, and Maple Cross.

In Abbots Langley, the safer neighbourhood team were joined by two special constables (police volunteers) in the High Street following feedback from members of the public about speeding.

Police say in one hour, six drivers were stopped and words of advice were issued.

The Rickmansworth safer neighbourhood team have targeted Denham Way between Mill End and Maple Cross after complaints about speeding and anti-social driving.

The operation in early June saw checks conducted along the stretch of road and one motorcyclist was given a section 59 notice due to their manner of driving.

More recently, an electric scooter was seized outside Reach Free School in Mill End after the rider was caught for a second time by police.

E-scooters are illegal on roads and pavements unless the rider is taking part in a Government trial.

Speed traps have also been set in recent weeks in Carpenders Avenue in Carpenders Park and on The Green in Croxley Green.

While in Oxhey and Northwood, officers stopped 13 drivers witnessed speeding in residential areas - four were reported for speeding offences while another driver was reported for driving a manual car while holding an automatic license only.

And "numerous" strong words of advice were given to motorists caught going over the limit in Batchworth Lane.

Police have warned the speeding operations will continue across the district, particularly in areas where tackling speeding has been set as one of the local policing priorities.
