Celebrations in Watford town centre were “good natured” as England reached the final of Euro 2020, said police.

Extra officers were deployed around the county at key spots as fans celebrated the Three lions beating Denmark.

In Watford town centre outside venues near Slug and Lettuce and The Colombian Press, fans gathered around to sing and dance following the victory.

Harry Kane's rebound from a saved penalty sent England to their first tournament final since 1966 – and people across the country took to the streets to celebrate.

In London, a congregation of large groups gathered around near Leicester Square and parts of the central area, but the moment of joy was overturned with many fights breaking out and 20 arrests – including assaults to police.

However while there was a large group of people in Watford, things were much more peaceful as fans were in celebratory union.

Chief Inspector David Partridge said: “The celebrations in Watford after the England game against Denmark were all good natured, with people simply wanting to celebrate England’s historic victory.

“There were no football related arrests during the evening in the town.

“Extra officers were deployed across the county - as they have been for each England fixture – and these additional resources were also able to support peers dealing with other normal daily policing issues.”

England will now return to Wembley on Sunday evening to go head-to-head with Italy for the trophy.
