Watford and the surrounding areas best and worst rated GP surgeries, according patients, have been revealed.

The 2021 GP surgery Survey ratings have been released after 18,658 questionnaires were sent out to residents – 40 per cent of which were completed.

The GP Patient Survey measures patients’ experiences across a range of topics, including making an appointment, access to online services and out-of-hours services.

New Road Surgery in Croxley Green was the highest rated surgery in the Herts Valleys NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG); 98 per cent of patients described their overall experience as 'good' - well above the national average of 83 per cent.

Overall, 19 surgeries across the CCG were rated over 90 per cent: New Road Surgery, Haverfield Road Surgery, The Manor Street Surgery, The Colne Practice, Archway Surgery, Bridgewater Surgeries, Chorleywood Surgery, Grange Street Surgery, Highfield Surgery, The New Surgery, Kings Langley Surgery, Baldwin Lane Surgery, Village Surgery, Gossoms End Surgery, Attenborough Surgery, Harvery Group Surgery, Parkbury House Surgery, and Everest House Surgery.

At the other end of the scale, just 69 per cent of patients at the Garston Medical Centre in Watford rated their experience as ‘good’.

The lowest rated practice in the CCG was Theobald Medical Centre in Borehamwood – which scored just 60 per cent.

In terms of getting through to a staff member on the phone, which has become of even more importance due to the coronavirus pandemic, Garston Medical Centre also performed poorly, with just 37 per cent of patients saying it was easy to call the GP.

The lowest performing practice across the CCG, in terms of picking up the phone, was The Grove Medical Centre in Borehamwood where 27 per cent of respondents said it was easy.
