A care home nurse has been recognised as the best in her region.
Corina Filipescu, who works at Bushey House, has been crowned Registered Nurse of the Year for south division in the Barchester Care Awards 2021.
The Barchester Care Awards celebrate the staff who go the extra mile for the benefit of the 12,000 residents living in Barchester’s 248 care homes and private hospitals across the country.
Ms Filipescu beat hundreds of other nominees in her region and now progresses to the national competition, with an awards event to be held in October.
She said: "This was a complete shock, I wasn’t even aware that I had been nominated.
"I feel honoured to have won this award, the team I work with at Bushey House makes everything easier and without their continued support I would not be the nurse I am today.
"Thank you to everyone at Bushey House and Barchester for the support."
General manager at Bushey House, Ranjit Karavadra, said: "This is an amazing achievement and the whole home is supporting Corina.
"We are so proud of her, Corina is the heart of Bushey House, she is there for residents and staff alike, and the support she gives to everyone whilst still ensuring she completes her own job is amazing.
"I would like to personally thank Corina for the support she has given me since I joined Bushey House."
