Motorists using an M25 junction roundabout near Watford are facing disruption due to overnight closures for roadworks.

A notice from Highways England in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer states an order has been made to close all the roads leading to and from both carriageways of the M25 Junction 20 (A41) overnight.

Furthermore, a 50mph speed limit will be imposed on both the clockwise and anti-clockwise carriageways on the approaches to the entry slip roads at Junction 20.

The order will come into force on July 31 and it is expected the work will last for approximately nine days starting on or after August 2.

The overnight closures will take place between 10am and 5am (maximum period) and traffic will be diverted via other junctions of the M25 or by using the M1, A41, A405, A414 and A4251.

The notices states the temporary closures, speed limit and diversion routes will be clearly indicated by signs when they are in operation during the works period.

The one.network website indicates that some of the closures on the roundabout are scheduled to take place from August 3 to August 5.

Meanwhile, Hertfordshire County Council is also intending to make orders to temporarily close other roads in the area for roadworks.

A section of Ashburnham Drive, South Oxhey, is set to be closed to vehicles from its westernmost junction with Hayling Road north-eastwards for a distance of approximately 20m for gas mains replacements works.

This order is due to take effect on August 9 and the works are scheduled to last until August 27 according to one.network.

Shepherds Lane, Chorleywood, is due to be closed from its junction with Berry Lane south-eastwards for a distance of approximately 140m from August 10.

This order is needed for tree cutting works and one.network states the closure should be in place for two days.

Also from August 10, nearby Stag Lane is set to be shut to vehicles from its junction with Shepherds Lane south-westwards for a distance of approximately 50m.

This is also for tree cutting works which are due to finish on August 12.
