Watford has been named as one of the top 50 UK town and cities with the greatest sense of community.

The town came 20th following a study by holiday park operator Parkdean Resorts.

Parkdean Resorts analyses a host of data aiming to find out where the friendliest and safest places are to live in the country.

Towns and cities were marked on how happy residents are, how safe it is to live in, the number of local businesses in the area, the number of community activities residents can get involved in, and the number of Facebook groups and pages dedicated to the area.

After all of the numbers were crunched, Watford came out with an index score of 281, which put it in the top 50 community-spirited locations in the country - and as high as 20th.

In particular, Watford ranked well on safety and the number of Facebook groups.

Edinburgh was named the as the place with the greatest sense of community after finishing with an index score of 360 followed by Exeter with 356 and Oxford with 341.

Parkdean sourced its happiness rates from the Office for National Statistics, with safety statistics from ADT Security Services.
