Some students have secured scholarships in the USA and top UK universities after the A-level results day.

Bushey’s independent day and boarding school, St Margaret’s, says that several students at the school managed to secure top universities in science, engineering, robotics and other advanced subjects.

One student, Alisha, in particular secured a place at the University of Bath to study her dream course of chemistry for drug discovery after achieving four A*s in chemistry, geography, maths and her EPQ.

Other students are also celebrating their results, after Mya secured three A*s in French, history and Latin alongside an A for her EPQ – as she goes on to study history with a European language at UCL.

One student has even secured a top scholarship in the USA following the results.

Head at St Margaret’s School, Lara Péchard, said: “It has been an incredibly challenging year and our students have shown resolve and focus.

“Many have had to adapt to a changing UCAS landscape, and we are very proud of their achievements and their open mindedness.

“This year we have students studying an unusual range of university courses from architecture, robotic engineering, psychology, languages and biomedical science as well as a number undertaking a variety of Economics related courses.

“It has been a privilege to support students with their future pathway and this year we have students studying in this country as well abroad.”

Charlotte Harrison, director of Sixth Form at St Margaret’s also spoke about the successes: “I am supremely proud of all our Year 13 cohort who have faced challenges like no other year group which has gone before them.

“To have secured US places, and places in engineering, robotics, biochemical sciences and architecture courses in the best institutions in the UK speaks of this cohort's ability and determination to succeed in the face of adversity.

“ Our boarding students likewise have overcome enormous difficulty, not having been long in the education system, learning remotely and progressing into the likes of Imperial and UCL. I am grateful to our expert staff who have given time, care and attention to every individual, bringing out the best in them.”
