Councillors are said to be pressing to ensure a set of roadworks is completed as soon as possible.
The temporary traffic lights near Bushey Arches have been causing delays during rush hour all week - and this evening is no exception.
Waterfields Way is currently (as of 5pm) gridlocked in both directions with the roadworks and traffic light timings on the ring road said by local councillors to be blamed for queues.

The latest work near Bushey Arches is being carried out by UK Power Networks.
Part of Aldenham Road near Edinburgh Mews has been shut off which means temporary three-way traffic lights have been installed.
The work, which is scheduled to last until August 18, is causing delays on all approaches, with traffic out of Watford worst affected.

The latest work came just days after the permanent traffic lights at the junction of Aldenham Road and Chalk Hill were upgraded and revised.
This took around a month to complete, and once the junction is operating properly again, traffic from London Road and Chalk Hill will no longer merge together at the same time after Central Watford Oxhey county councillor Stephen Giles-Medhurst raised concerns about the number of collisions.
This means there is the potential for more permanent delays at this junction, even after the latest set of roadworks are removed.

Speaking about the latest roadworks, Cllr Giles-Medhurst posted on social media: "These are not related to to the recent traffic light upgrade but are due to UK Power Network connections to the new flats on the north side of Aldenham Road.
"The works are being done now to avoid the school holidays. I have asked if they can speeded up and finished by the weekend."
His Liberal Democrat colleague, Cllr Laurence Brass, has also posted about the impact the roadworks is also having on residents he represents.
The Bushey North county councillor said he has written to Hertfordshire County Council with concerns about the "repeated disruption" drivers in Aldenham Road have endured over the last six weeks.
He says he has told the council how this has impacted on residents and is calling a more "co-ordinated" programme of work for the area.
