- Power has been restored to more than 1,000 customers after a power cut was resolved.

- Electricity supplier UK Power Networks says it became aware of an issue on its network at around 5.20pm today.

- According to its website, the supplier had to turn off power so engineers could safely carry out emergency repairs to its network.

- At least four postcodes in the Watford area were affected - including homes in Garston, as well as in Abbots Langley and Bedmond.

- UK Power Networks said at around 6pm, 1,239 customers were affected and that it had received 29 calls about the lack of power.

- UK Power Networks estimated power would be restored to most households by 9pm, but the majority saw their power return by 6.20pm.

- Nearly 60 customers had to wait a little longer, but the power cut was declared over just after 6.50pm.

- During the power cut, the power supplier said on its website: "We're sorry for any disruption this may be causing you."

- The latest update reads: "We had to turn off power in your area so our engineers could safely carry out emergency repairs to the network."
