A record-breaking Olympic gymnast celebrated her achievement in Tokyo by getting a tattoo at a studio in Rickmansworth.

Amelie Morgan created history when she and her fellow members became the first gymnasts in 93 years to win a team medal for Great Britain at the Olympics.

After winning bronze, Amelie told the BBC that it felt "unreal" to have made history.

Amelie, who is from Slough, is now back in the UK and last week, she went and got a permanent reminder of her success - a tattoo of the five Olympic rings on her arm.

She had it done at the award-winning Renaissance Tattoo studio in Rickmansworth High Street.

Studio co-owner Adie Kitachi was delighted to welcome the Olympic medalist to his studio.

He said: "She was a really lovely young lady and super down to earth. She wanted the Olympic rings which was done by our artist Kris Farago.

"We've had skateboarding and snowboarding champions visit us but to get an Olympic medallist in is out of this world."

Amelie brought her medal she won in Tokyo with her and allowed Adie and the team to hold it.

Adie added: "This really was a once in a lifetime opportunity for us. I think it's the coolest tattoo we've done."

Despite her young age, Amelie, who trains at Portishead Academy of Gymnastics near Bristol, has won a host of medal in her sporting career.

She won bronze on the uneven bars at the 2021 European Championships and won the most medals ever (five) by a British junior female gymnast a the 2018 Junior European Championships.

After her success in Tokyo, Amelie's mother Kate told the BBC her daughter had battled through a string of injuries, including a broken wrist, and saw her training interrupted when she contracted Covid in January.
