A long-standing issue of flooding affecting the outside of a junior school has been resolved before the start of the Autumn term.

Kingsway Junior School at Briar Road is set to reopen its doors again as the end of the summer holidays approaches, but this time pupils and parents will not be burdened with a reoccurring problem outside the school.

A build up of water near the entrance has regularly been reported to Hertfordshire County Council over many years, as it made dropping off and picking up children at school very difficult.

County councillor Tim Williams says he managed to persuade the county council to do something about this, after the council previously dismissed the issue by claiming that it evaporates after a few days.

Work was carried out over the summer holiday and has now been completed just weeks before the start of the Autumn school term.

Speaking about the fix, Cllr Williams said: "Locally this flooding outside Kingswood Junior School has been a source of complaint for many years so it's great to finally get this matter resolved with Herts County Council.

He continued: "School entrances are always congested at drop off and pick up times so removing this flooded area gives more space and eases congestion."
