Wellspring Church ministers cycle 110 miles to fund extension

Wellspring Church in Watford has a £2 million target to make the extension - which will create new spaces for mental health services, children and youth groups, a dedicated youth lounge and other community facilities – a reality.

The campaign neared their goal last month thanks to a generous donation, and two ministers today (August 26) will be cycling from Birmingham to Watford to help boost funds.

The sponsored bike ride will be 110 miles along the Grand Union Canal, they will set out from Birmingham New Street and end the ride in Cassiobury Park.

It is hoped that the ‘Wheely Long Day’ campaign will raise £2,000 by the end of the journey.

Reverend Tim Roberts, who will cycle along with Rev Helen Roberts, said: “We see so much potential in the young people in our community amidst the challenges of a mental health crisis made even worse by the pandemic.

“As we pedal from dawn to dusk, we’ll be praying for a better future for the emerging generation in our town, and for the money to help them feel even more at home in our Church Centre.”

Since opening ten years ago, more than 300,000 people have used the Wellspring building - situated behind Watford Museum - to learn English, join a children’s holiday club, use the food bank, gather for Sunday services and more.
