Firefighters were called last night to deal with a sinking canal boat in Croxley Green.
A crew from Watford and a specialist water rescue team from Hatfield were called to the scene near Rousebarn Lane shortly after 6pm.
Three women, who live on the boat, returned to find it listing to one side and filling rapidly with water.
After pumping water from it for more than two hours the firefigthers managed to re-float the boat which suffered water damage.
One said: "Luckilly it was moored by the bank where the canal is not deep enough for it to sink properly."
