Part of a major street in Watford is among the planned closures for roadworks in the area from later this month.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details the extent of the closures and any other restrictions that may be required while the works are carried out.

The temporary closure orders are valid for 18 months if made but the restrictions specified will only be implemented at the times shown on signs at or near the relevant locations.

The council is seeking to make an order to close that length of A412 St Albans Road from its junction with Leggatts Wood Avenue south-westwards for a distance of approximately 100m, except for access, for utility service works.

If made, the order will take effect on September 20 and the diversion will be via St Albans Road, A41 North Western Avenue, A411 (Hempstead Road/Hyde Road/The Avenue) and St Albans Road or via St Albans Road, Hempstead Road, North Western Avenue and St Albans Road.

Also from September 20, an order is set to take effect for the closure of Wellstones to enable storm water sewer connection works to take place.

This closure will be from the junction with A411 Exchange Road north-eastwards and south-eastwards to its junction with Market Street, a distance of approximately 275m, except for access.

The county council is also intending to make an order for a temporary 30mph speed limit to be introduced on the A41 Watford Road, Hunton Bridge, while works are carried out.

This order is also due to take effect on September 20 and is due to apply to the following lengths of road:

The northbound carriageway of A41 Watford Road from its junction with Langleybury Lane north-westwards to its junction with the A41 (unnamed road/M25 (junction 20) roundabout, a distance of approximately 880m.

The southbound carriageway of A41 Watford Road from a point 885m south-east of its junction with A41 (unnamed road/M25 (junction 20) roundabout south-eastwards for a distance of approximately 405m.

Meanwhile, a section of Berry Lane, Rickmansworth, is set to be closed to enable vegetation removal works to take place near the road.

This closure is due to apply from a point in line with the eastern boundary of No. 40 Field Way south-westwards to its junction with Church Lane, a distance of approximately 306m.

This is another order set to take effect from September 20 and the diversion will be via Berry Lane, Tudor Way, Shepherds Lane and Church Lane.
