The former coalition government was responsible for the legislation
I appreciate the effort Mr Roger Pidgeon has made to do some more research into the GDPO15 legislation (Letters to the Editor, August 27, 2021).
However, Mr Pidgeon has been to some extent rather selective with his information. He reports that the GDPO15 legislation was made in 1990 and 2015 and that it was exclusively Tory legislation. Just to help try to jog Mr Pidgeon’s memory, the GDPO15 legislation was published by the Lib-Dem/Tory coalition government.

It was also mandated for use by the local Lib Dem-run council at the time of the Wellstones debacle, that left the Lib Dem council with egg on their face.
