Drug dealing in a skate park and anti-social behaviour in Cassiobury Park are among issues police are clamping down on in the west of Watford.

Hertfordshire Constabulary has revealed what officers will be prioritising in the west of the town following a consultation with the community.

Feedback from residents found they are mainly concerned about activities going on in parks over the past three months.

Among parks highlighted was Cassiobury Park, with issues complained about mainly being anti-social behaviour related, drugs being smoked, youth related disorder and crowds of people.

"This mainly occurs at weekends and is worse on warmer days," the Hertfordshire Constabulary website says.

It added: "We will target the location at peak times and engage with the community and disrupt any form of anti-social behaviour."

Police were also told about issues in the Oxhey area around overt drug supply and misuse.

The Constabulary's website says: "This is mainly the sale of drugs in the Silk Mill Road area viaduct and skate park in Oxhey Park.

"This mainly occurs in the early evening and weekends becoming more prevalent in the warmer weather."

Police say they will be clamping down on this behaviour by "increased public consultation and encouraging the reporting of crime to create a clearer intelligence picture to focus enforcement action".

"We will target the park at peak times to provide reassurance and disrupt anti-social behaviour," police added.

Police added there has also been more reporting of drug misuse around west Watford and Hollywell.

"The issues identified are the use of drugs in unused garage areas of west Watford and the stairwells of some of the flats in the Hollywell area," the Constabulary's website says.

"Residents of the area identify young people are responsible for the behaviour."

Police have been carrying out increased security awareness and enforcing closure of vulnerable sites to help tackle the issue.

People can raise issues in their community by using Hertfordshire Constabulary's 'echo' system, which allows people to voice thoughts and opinions regarding policing in their local area.

Speaking about the ‘echo’ system, Hertfordshire Constabulary said: “Echo is a great way for us to maintain contact with the communities we serve and gather vital feedback to enable us to focus on the issues that are important to them, and target our resources where they are needed most.

“The online form is quick and easy to use, and you can remain anonymous if you wish. Please take a few minutes to let us know what you think we should be focusing on in your neighbourhood. We are here, and listening.”
