People are being warned to expect train delays this evening (Monday) affecting Watford Junction.

Disruption has been ongoing since around 6.30pm due to a safety inspection on the track and National Rail has now said delays are expected to last until 9pm.

It tweeted: "A safety inspection of the track at Watford Junction has now been completed and London Northwestern Railway services are beginning to return to normal at this station.

"However, trains may still be cancelled or revised whilst service recovers."

The website adds commuters may use their ticket on:

  • Avanti West Coast services to / from London Euston. Their main stations are Rugby, Milton Keynes Central and Watford Junction. They occasionally call at Tamworth, Lichfield, Nuneaton and Northampton.
  • London Overground between London Euston and Watford Junction.

Latest updates can be found on the National Rail website.
