A mini-golf venue has taken a step closer to opening in Watford town centre.

Crazy golf fans will have been excited by Puttshack's announcement in 2019 that it will be coming to the town.

But the pandemic has undoubtedly delayed the opening, with the venue and restaurant now on course to open this winter, according to Puttshack's website.

It will be situated in a ground floor unit of the Atria Watford shopping centre extension.

This week, planning agents for Puttshack applied for permission from Watford Borough Council to place five signs advertising Puttshack in and around the shopping centre and Watford High Street, including mock-up signage above The Florist.

And Puttshack's website states its Watford venue is 'coming soon', adding: "Good vibes coming your way in Winter 2021.

"We’ve thrown out the old rules, paper scorecards, and pencils – replacing them with a fun new scoring system and crazy courses. This isn’t just a new way to play mini golf, it’s the only way."

Puttshack only has three other branches in the UK - at Bank and White City in London and at Lakeside Shopping Centre in Essex.

The company describes itself as "tech infused mini-golf", with its "crazy courses featuring custom themed holes, interactive leader boards and a digital prize wheel".

Puttshack's website adds: "Not only do our courses create a unique vibe, but unlike any other crazy golf course, they offer a different interactive game at EVERY hole.

"That means you can be working on your Beer Pong skills at one hole and then testing out your pop culture knowledge at our True or False hole. You can't find this anywhere else."

Another mini-golf venue recently opened in the town centre - Glow-in-One - which is a glow-and-the dark miniature golf experience in The Parade set up by a couple from west London.
