Police have appealed for witnesses after a motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on the M25 near Rickmansworth this afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to junction 17, Maple Cross, at around 4.20pm when a grey Yamaha motorcycle was involved in a collision with a car.

The motorcyclist was taken to hospital by helicopter with serious injuries.

Sergeant James Wood, from the BCH Road Policing Unit, said: “We are particularly looking for dash cam footage of the vehicles involved to establish the circumstances around the collision.

"As part of this, we are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

"Did you see the collision itself or capture footage travelling towards Watford at around this time?"

Anyone with information is asked to email james.wood@herts.police.uk.

National Highways tweeted shortly before 5pm that there had been a "serious collision" and the stretch had shut to allow an air ambulance to land.
