New 20mph speed limits will be introduced in more than 30 streets in Watford from next month while a slip road leading to a motorway junction is set to be temporarily closed for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer states that two orders have been made for the 20mph speed limits to take effect from Monday, November 8.

The limits will be introduced in these roads: Sheepcot Drive; Westwick Place; Severn Way; Medway Close; Garston Crescent; Rother Close; Avon Close; Garston Drive; Wheatley Drive; The Pippins; Gwent Close; Lavinia Avenue; Crown Rise; Parish Close; Leggatts Rise; Rushton Avenue; Clarke Way; Evans Avenue; Orbital Crescent; Harris Road; Summerfield Road; Goodrich Close; Hemming Way; Clarke Green; Ross Crescent; Gorle Close; Florence Close; Gullet Wood Road; Sparrow Walk; Stanbury Avenue; Beechpark Way; Glen Way; Roughwood Close; Grandfield Avenue; Priory Fields; Biskra; Bellamy Close; Roseberry Court.

Meanwhile, the county council is also intending to make an order to prohibit motorists from using the A41 northbound slip road leading onto the A4008 Stephenson Way/M1 (junction 5 roundabout) for roadworks.

This order is also due to come into force on November 8 and will remain in place for 18 months, or until the works have been completed.

However, the works will only take place at the times shown on roads at or near the location.

The county council have also published a list of those roads set to be affected by traffic restrictions when the Cassiobury Park fireworks display takes place on November 6.

Waiting, loading and unloading will be prohibited on both sides of the following lengths of road whilst signs are in place:

  • Cassiobury Park Avenue from its junction with Rickmansworth Road north-westwards to its junction with Gade Avenue, a distance of approximately 1014m.
  • Coningesby Drive from its junction with Langley Way north-westwards for its entire length.
  • Gade Avenue from its junction with Rickmansworth Road north-westwards and north-eastwards for its entire length.
  • Langley Way from its junction with Cassiobury Drive roundabout south-westwards to its junction with Parkside Drive, a distance of approximately 379m.
  • Oak View from its junction with Gade Avenue westwards, north-eastwards and south-westwards for its entire length.
  • Metropolitan Station Approach from its junction with Rickmansworth Road north-westwards for a distance of approximately 256m.
  • Parkside Drive from its junction with Langley Way south-eastwards to its junction with The Gardens, a distance of approximately 500m.
  • Shepherds Road from its junction with Rickmansworth Road north-westwards for its entire length.
  • Swiss Avenue from its junction with Gade Avenue north-eastwards to its junction with Cassiobury Park Avenue, a distance of approximately 318m.
  • Swiss Close from its junction with Swiss Avenue north-westwards and clockwise for its entire length.
