A 12-year-old girl was offered an unknown white powder and a cigarette by a man who pestered her as she travelled to school.

Hertfordshire Constabulary is investigating the suspicious incident, which occurred in Radlett on Thursday, November 4.

The girl was travelling on the 602 bus to school around 7am when a man started speaking to her.

He repeatedly asked for money before she eventually gave him £10, police said.

But he continued to pester her before offering her a cigarette and then an unknown white powder.

The girl refused them and got off the bus in Radlett.

The man is described as tall, black, of slim build, aged 30 to 40 years old and wearing muddied clothing.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Webb said: “This was a concerning and unpleasant experience for the girl, however I would like to reassure people that there was no physical threat to her safety at any point. She did the right thing by refusing the cigarette and white powder.

“We would like trace the man involved or any potential witnesses who were on the bus at the time so we can carry out further enquiries.”
