Watford has been lit-up once again at this year’s Christmas Lights Switch-On event on Saturday, November 13.

The event- which was cancelled last year due to Covid restrictions- saw hundreds of people gather at Watford Parade to celebrate.

Watford-born, X-Factor winners, Rak-Su made a guest appearance to perform songs and pushed the all-important button which illumined the town.

Electric Umbrella and the Locals also provided on stage-entertainment which was enjoyed by the crowd who cheered them on.

Myles Stephenson, I’m a Celeb star and Rak-Su band memeber said: “I loved playing at the light switch on- we had a little hiccup when the lights came on and only a star lit up but they came on eventually.

“I loved playing in Watford and want to thank everyone who came out to support us tonight.”

This year’s new light installation has been funded by Watford Business Improvement District (BID) and businesses in the town centre.

Maria Manion, Watford BID’s Chief Executive, said: “After the disappointment of not being able to host a switch-on event in 2020, we are now even more excited to light up Watford with this spectacular switch-on event.

“It was wonderful to see so many happy faces enjoying our brand-new Christmas lights, they really will create a mesmerising spectacle in our ever-improving town centre.”
