Oxhey Activity Park has been honoured at an wards ceremony which celebrates landscape led projects across the world.
The activity park in Watford has been hugely popular since it opened in September 2020 thanks to its new skating and cycling facilities.
Now it has been commended after scooping a price at the global Landscape Institute awards.
Oxhey Activity Park won the Excellence in Public Health and Wellbeing category, beating competition both at home and abroad.
Watford mayor Peter Taylor said: "I am delighted that this major project led by Watford Borough Council has been recognised by the judging panel at the Landscape Institute Awards.
"Oxhey Activity Park is already proving to be a very popular place to visit and our investment has transformed the area into an exciting new sport, play and leisure facility.
"These awards are well deserved recognition for all those who helped design and deliver these wonderful new facilities."
Judges from bodies like Historic England, National Lottery Heritage Fund and Public Health England selected 19 winners overall from a 73-project shortlist that featured developments from across the world at the awards.
Edward Green, landscape architect at Southern Green which created the activity park in partnership with the council, said: "Winning awards is always special, but the Landscape Institute Awards represent the pinnacle of achievement in our profession
"Especially for projects that benefit the physical, mental and environmental wellbeing of our communities."
