Much has changed in Watford town centre since this great picture was taken at least 60 years ago but one constant remains – the pond.
Sean McCarthy shared this night time image overlooking the pond that was captured by his grandfather on the Watford Observer’s nostalgia Facebook group ‘We grew up in Watford’.
He believes it was taken in the late 1950s when, as you can see, motorists were able to drive past the pond while in the background customers can be seen through the windows enjoying a meal or drink in The Chef Corner restaurant.
With more than 11,000 members, ‘We grew up in Watford’ is a thriving online community where people are sharing their memories and pictures of the town and surrounding areas.
