All eyes have been on one of Watford’s most decorated houses this Christmas which is supporting the world’s leading brain tumour charity.
Roberta and Matthew Cobb, of Upper Highway in Abbots Langley, decided to go all out this year with an eye-catching Christmas display to support the Brain Tumour Charity following the death of Mrs Cobb’s father, Laurence, last year.
Talking about the decorations this year, she said: “We’ve always put a few decorations outside anyway, but we wanted to do more this year because of Covid and things to brighten the spirits, but also for charity.
“We lost my father last year just after Christmas, so we thought we’d raise some money for charity.”
However, the family never expected the newfound attention they would have, as families and other individuals are turning up outside the house to take pictures of the festive display.
She said: “It’s had a lot of attention, we’ve had a lot of people coming and visiting – children and even elderly people – they take pictures and make donations.”
There has even been an instance of a person on their evening jog, who went past it and later turned around and went back up the hill just to take a picture.
The display includes a snow machine, colourful lights and a large Christmas tree overlooking the scene.
It is hoped that the display can help raise awareness about brain tumours, as well as helping to fund and accelerate research.
And from the positive response seen in the community, the family is already planning to make the decorations an annual thing.
