An 18-year-old was taken to hospital after she was hit by a car outside her school.

The collision happened by Queens' School in Bushey on January 6.

A Hertfordshire Constabulary spokesperson said: "Police were called at around 11am on Thursday 6 January following a road traffic collision in Aldenham Road, Bushey.

"A Toyota Yaris and a pedestrian were involved. The pedestrian, an 18-year-old female, was taken to hospital by the ambulance service but her injuries were not thought to be serious.

"Enquiries are continuing at this time."

Following the collision, Queens' wrote to parents to inform them about what had happened.

The head teacher said the 30mph Aldenham Road is "dangerous" because it suffers from speeding drivers.

Adding this wasn't the first incident of its kind, Queens' urged parents to ensure their child crosses at a designated crossing point and also said parking at pick-up and drop-off times can "block the line of sight" for both drivers and pedestrians.

The school was approached for further comment.
