Bridge players have helped raised £1,000 for Watford Peace Hospice.

It was the first time some of Watford and Bushey Bridge Club's members played face-to-face in nearly two years.

The event at Blue Check restaurant in Bushey on January 19 also provided an opportunity for friends to get reacquainted.

Jennifer Munitz, from the bridge club, said: "For most members they have either had to play bridge online or not play at all and they said it was a huge relief to get back to a game of regular bridge with real cards and players around the table.

"There were some wonderful prizes donated for the charity raffle by, amongst others, Andrew's greengrocers in Bushey Heath, St James Restaurant in Bushey, and Carpenders Park Garden Centre & Nursery. The excellent lunch was enjoyed by everyone.

"All in all the event raised £1,000 for the Watford Peace Hospice."

The bridge club is always on the lookout for members as well as those who can provide tuition.
