A murder investigation has been launched after a man died in a flat in Bushey.

Police were called to a property in High Street at around 10.45pm on Sunday January 23 where a man in his 40s was found unresponsive.

Hertfordshire Constabulary says the man was pronounced dead at the scene and following a post mortem, a murder probe was launched last night (January 26).

A forensic tent is in place inside a car park by the property flanked by two police vehicles.

The building is situated on the corner of the high street and Melbourne Road opposite Bushey Country Club.

Watford Observer:

Detective Inspector Justine Jenkins, who is leading the investigation, said: "Our thoughts are with the man’s family and friends at this incredibly difficult time. Specialist officers continue to provide support and we request that the family’s privacy is respected.

"Our investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances around what happened and we are appealing for anyone with information to please come forward.

"Did you see or hear anything suspicious in the area between Saturday night and Sunday evening? Any information at all could greatly assist our enquiries."

Watford Observer:

Police say officers will remain in the area where the man was found.

Hertsmere Chief Inspector Mark Bilsdon said: "I appreciate incidents of this nature cause a great deal of concern among the community. I would like to reassure people that we are doing all we can to investigate the circumstances around what happened.

"Officers remain in the area, so please do not hesitate to speak with them if you have any concerns."
