A major route in Watford is among the roads set to be affected by temporary closures for roadworks.

A notice from Hertfordshire County Council in this week’s edition of the Watford Observer details the extent of planned closures in areas also including Abbots Langley and Croxley Green and other restrictions that may be necessary until works are completed.

Temporary closure orders are valid for up to 18 months and the dates when works take place can vary and will be indicated by signs at or near the relevant locations.

The council is intending to make an order to prohibit vehicles from using the A41 North Western Avenue from its junction with The Dome roundabout north-westwards for a distance of approximately 40m while street lighting works take place.

This order is due to take effect from February 13 and the diversion will by via A412 St Albans Road, A405 North Orbital Road and A41 North Western Avenue.

Part of New Road, Croxley Green, is set to be shut to motorists for water service connection works.

This order is due to come into force on February 14 and the closure will be in place from the junction with Barton Way north-westwards to its junction with Dickinson Square, a distance of approximately 120m.

Motorists should use New Road, A412 Watford Road, The Green and New Road instead.

Water service connection works are also set to close a section of The Garth, Abbots Langley.

This order is due to take effect from February 16 and will apply from the western boundary of No. 23 north-eastwards for a distance of approximately 30m.

The alternative route will be via The Garth, Upper Highway, Long Elms and The Garth.

An order for the closure of part of Hyde Lane, Nash Mills, is scheduled to come into force from February 14.

The road is set to be shut from its junction with Lower Road north-eastwards for a distance of approximately 250m for gas main replacement works.

The diversion will be via Railway Terrace, Harthall Lane, Bedmond Road and Hyde Lane.
