Train services are being pressured to increase trains from Bushey Station, after they were cut back due to the pandemic.

Over the pandemic, commuters relying on trains to and from Bushey Station have been frustrated from the reduced service.

Trainlines made their timetables sparse following the Covid restrictions that have been in place since the wake of the pandemic, but despite essentially all restrictions being lifted, some lines have not returned to their pre-pandemic levels.

Watford Mayor Peter Taylor says that he has also received complaints from a number of residents, and has since been in touch with senior management at West Midlands Trains to press for an increased service.

He said: “I completely understand the frustration this brings to many local people trying to conduct their daily life.

“As the government tell people to go back to working in the office, they need to ensure that the transport is available to get them there.

“Unfortunately local people are suffering once again because of the lack of preparation and organisation from the government around the ever-changing Covid-19 restrictions. I will continue to raise this until residents get a frequent and reliable service.”

Mr Taylor has said that he was told “a lack of staff and finances” has meant that West Midlands Trains are not in a position to amend the timetable to pre-pandemic levels.

Kennedy Rodrigues, a Liberal Democrat campaigner who is also concerned about the irregular trains, said: “I know that more and more people are now traveling to their places of work once again. It is vital that they have good transport services so that they can do that.

“Many residents in Oxhey commute to London for work and this is made extremely difficult when there are long gaps between services, especially in the morning and evening."
