Food hygiene inspectors have already rated various establishments in 2022 – and one place has been told ‘major improvement’ is needed.

Eateries and other venues inspected by the Environmental Health team in January have gotten of to a good start – with them all receiving high scores.

However one place, Duran’s Café in Maple Cross, scored 1/5 after an inspection on December 15, 2021.

This was not listed at the time when the Observer published the list of high scoring eateries in Three Rivers inspected before 2022.

Both the hygienic food handling and cleanliness of facilities was generally satisfactory, while the management of food safety required major improvement – the Observer has requested to see the full report.

But since the start of 2022, the places inspected in both Watford and Three Rivers have been well received so far.

Inspections are to make sure that food hygiene is up to code and holds good food safety standards.

Ratings on a scale are then issued to rank the hygiene standards at the time of inspection.

Five is top of the scale, meaning the hygiene standards are very good and fully comply with the law and zero is at the bottom of the scale, meaning urgent improvement is necessary.
