A man is in hospital after he was spotted covered in blood in a neighbourhood in Watford today (January 31).
Numerous police resources swarmed the Leavesden Road area of North Watford at lunchtime after concerns were raised about the welfare of a man, who was also reported to be armed.
Witnesses reported seeing up to 12 police vehicles, including armed units, parked in Leavesden Road and Regent Street with the air ambulance also attending.
It's believed the helicopter landed in Callowland Recreation Ground.
A neighbour says they also saw officers with shields "running" towards a property in the area.
Hertfordshire Constabulary has provided the following statement about the incident.
A spokesperson said: "Police were called at 12.46pm today (Monday 31 January) to report concerns for the welfare of a man who had been spotted bleeding in the Leavesden Road and Regent Street area of Watford.
"It was reported that he may have been in possession of a knife.
"Officers, including the armed response unit, attended and swiftly located the man.
"The East of England Ambulance Service, and the air ambulance, also attended with the man taken to hospital.
"Enquiries are continuing, but there is not believed to be any third party involvement in the incident at this time."
