A new barbershop has opened in Watford with those behind the project pledging to give back to the community.

Mojo Fusion in Queens Road was officially opened by the town's mayor Peter Taylor on January 26.

It's a business venture that has been a few years in the pipeline and chief executive Jomo Oparah says Mojo Fusion is about more than just the shop.

He said: "We are so happy to be open and serving the people of Watford and the opening was awesome.

"We are focused on creating a unique atmosphere that allows communities to build and unite and allows us to give back to them."

One of Mojo Fusion's initiatives is that it is offering free haircuts to primary school-aged children in Watford during term-time. It is an offer that is set to continue throughout the year for boys and girls.

The barbershop is part of Mojo Fusion Ltd - an events management company - which has even wider plans for Watford.

Mr Oparah says he and his team intend to host an annual carnival in Watford and have been working with Watford Borough Council on the logistics.

He said: "There will be music, dance, fashion, food, business networking, and more. Watch this space."
