High streets are the heart of our communities and it is important areas like Watford are thriving as much as they can.

And while borough is bustling with businesses and traders warmly welcoming customers, there are some units that need to be filled.

We headed down to the town centre at the end of January to see where they were and asked Watford BID what their futures entailed.

Below you can find out the current status of the empty spaces we found in High Street.

22-24 The Parade

Watford Observer:

There used to be a Superdrug store here, although the retailer has now moved to another unit in Atria Watford.

Watford BID says the space on the Parade is currently under surveyor Brazier Freeth and is under offer.

But a spokesperson from BID added that it has not been informed about the potential interested party.

142 High Street

Watford Observer:

This unit used to be occupied by IFix.

Watford BID has confirmed that the space is currently being refurbished and it is unclear at this stage what will become of the unit.

We have asked for further information.

116a High Street

Watford Observer:

This used to be the Liberty Flights Vape Shop, which only closed recently.

As a result, the space is currently to let.

Watford BID said: “It’s a great location, opposite an Atria entrance, so we don’t think it’ll stay vacant for long.”

17 The Parade

Watford Observer:

This was formally Amplifon, who has now relocated to an alternative unit in Watford Town Centre.

It is unclear what will happen with its old space.

We have asked BID for further information.

The Former Post Office

Watford Observer:

This used to be an Ask Italian restaurant, but Watford BID has confirmed Honest Burgers will be moving into the unit.
