A “devastated” family is appealing for the public to help find a missing ring that contains the ashes of their son that was born sleeping.
Theodore Joseph Revitt was born sleeping at 36 weeks on August 19, 2021, and his ashes were placed into two rings in October, which is worn all the time by his parents Em Jones and Adrian Revitt.
However one ring is now missing after Mr Revitt took off his ring to wash his hands with wipes while at work on Tuesday (February 1).
The couple believes that the ring was misplaced at some point near the corner of Green Lane and The Oaks, Oxhey, at around 4pm, and it has not been seen since despite active searches for it.
The mother told the Watford Observer she felt that “something wasn’t right” during her pregnancy and that the hospital confirmed to her there was no heartbeat.
She said: “We never prepared for it, nobody does do they? We couldn’t even afford these rings to be made, it was my mum that paid it for us.”
The idea behind the ash ring was that the parents could still have Theodore by their side at all times.
“It’s still quite raw, I’m absolutely devastated. A part of him is lost, and I can’t shake that, I need him back,” said the mother.
On Facebook, she shared a post asking members of the community to get in touch if they find the ring, adding that “the ring is absolutely worthless to somebody else, but it’s everything to us.”
Posters have also been placed around the area appealing for help, and Ms Jones says she is “shocked” by how receptive and supportive the community has been.
