An eagle-eyed member of the public helped police find a stolen car in Abbots Langley.

The person noticed a Mini they did not recognise had been parked in Horseshoe Lane for a while and informed officers of it at their local station.

After some checks, police discovered the car had been reported stolen.

“We successfully recovered the vehicle and informed a very happy owner that their car had been found,” Three Rivers Police said on Facebook.

In the post, they urged people to “say something if you see something”.

It added: “You, the public, are our extra eyes and ears and this case goes to show that reporting something you think might be just nothing can actually lead to a positive result for a victim of crime.

“So if you see something suspicious, or that just doesn't sit right, please tell us. It could be the missing piece of our puzzle.”
