Cassiobury Park will no longer receive an ice age makeover this Easter after a “difficult decision” was made to cancel an exhibition.

Ice Age: The Lost Kingdom was scheduled to take over Cassiobury Park from April 2 to April 18, bringing along animatronic creatures moving their arms and bodies, an excavation sand pit, a VR experience and food and refreshments.

Described as a ‘London’ event, the exhibition in Watford has been cancelled due to shipping disruptions.

A statement from the organisers reads: “The main reason being the shipping of all the animatronic creatures and exhibits from the Far East has been severely delayed.

“This is totally out of our control and in order to not let down our partners and customers, we have taken the decision to cancel the London event for this year.”

However families who were intending to visit the ice age experience will be able to use their tickets to a replacement Jurassic Encounter event that will take place at the park during the same period.

This will feature 50 life-sized animatronic dinosaurs from the Jurassic, Triassic and Cretaceous periods.

These include a giant 18 metre T. Rex, an eight-metre Triceratops, a Velociraptors, seven-metre Spinosaurus, 16-metre-tall Diplodocus and five- metre Stegosaurus.

Similar to the cancelled ice age event, there will be a fossil excavation pit and a VR experience along with food and drink stalls and ride-on dinosaurs.
