An animal rescue centre says it is facing an “expensive” repair job after high winds caused serious damage to its facility.
The National Animal Welfare Trust’s (NAWT) Watford branch says it has been “badly affected” by Storm Dudley and Storm Eunice, which lashed the country last week.
Among damage at the branch in Tylers Way includes most of its fencing, some of the roofing and its marquee which has been standing for 20 years.
NAWT said the animals found the storm “very stressful”, but everyone remained safe.
“We now need to focus on the repairs to be able to continue our high standard of care,” it said.
In a Facebook post, NAWT added dogs cannot be exercised off lead without tall fences and that visitors do not have a sheltered area without the marquee.
“It is going to be a lengthy and expensive process to get the centre back to how it was,” the post said.
“We are asking if you or anyone you know can help either through making a monetary donation, donating building supplies or volunteering to help with the repairs.”
