Two more motorists have fallen foul of Watford’s notorious width restriction – with one trying to steam through at full speed.

The list of vehicles claimed by Woodmere Avenue’s traffic measure continues to grow as a long-term solution remains elusive.

Some claim the restriction is too dangerous, others blame careless drivers, but two videos posted last week show both may have a point.

The first shows a van hurtling towards the bollards with no respect for their strike rate. At the first hurdle the front tyre blows and the vehicle rattles to an ignominious stop.

Three days later a large van is seen opting for caution. It safely navigates the first sections but as freedom beckons the final bollard nails its front-left.

Cameras are set to replace the restriction in 2023 to deter big vehicles from using the street.

But after campaigners claimed that was too long Herts County Council recently said it would consult residents over potentially removing it earlier.
