A speed camera in Watford caught an average of more than 55 drivers a week breaking the 30mph limit.

Rickmansworth Road (A412), northeast of Cassiobury Park Avenue, recorded 2,906 speeding motorists in the last 12 months – by far the borough's hottest spot.

It is followed by Eastbury Road (A4125), near Manning Court, which saw 1,558 people caught breaking the 30mph limit.

The figures, obtained via a Freedom of Information Act request, relate to activations resulting in police issuing a notice of intended prosecution.

The top recorded speed on Rickmansworth Road was 74mph – well over double the limit – while Eastbury Road’s was 63mph.
