A 71-year-old man from Watford has admitted inciting a girl under the age of 13 to engage in sexual activity.

Russell Bergman, of Milton Street, was charged with intentionally inciting the girl to engage in non-penetrative sexual activity between May 8 and June 15 last year.

He was also accused of communicating sexually with a person aged under 16 during the same period.

Bergman gave an indicated guilty plea for both charges at St Albans Magistrates’ Court last week.

He was granted unconditional bail and the case has been sent to St Albans Crown Court for sentencing on March 18.
