From Harry Potter to Mary Poppins or The Gruffalo, we always love seeing what children dress up as on World Book Day - but what will you WOW us with this year?

The annual worldwide celebration of books and reading celebrates its 25th anniversary today after the event was launched in 1997 to encourage young people how enjoyable reading can be.

Its popularity has grown since with kids everywhere dressing up as their favourite book character. On this page are just a very small selection of the pictures we have taken or been sent previously of children dressing up, in some cases showcasing the creative talents of their parents or another adult in their life.

Watford Observer:

Whether you’ve spent hours making a costume for your child or bought an outfit from a shop, we’d love to see as many pictures as possible of their costumes to celebrate World Book Day 2022.

You can send them to us by using the link below and we’ll do our best to feature as many as possible online or in print.

Have a great World Book Day!
