Young cyclists helped mark the launch of a new learn-to-ride cycling facility at a Watford park.
The £150k facility at King George V Playing Fields has now launched, featuring 445m2 Tarmac surfacing, a large roundabout, roadway signs and pelican crossing, will help cyclists understand how to cycle on the road and gain practical skills.
Children at Holywell Primary School attended the new training ground to test out the facility, taking part in a training session led by community group Watford Cycle Hub.
The facility was completed thanks to funding from Watford Borough Council, Sport England, British Cycling and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS).
Samuel, a student at Holywell Primary School said: “I recently learnt that there are around one billion bikes in the world which can save around 238 million gallons of fuel every year.
“I had so much fun taking part and places like this are great to help the people my age learn cycling skills and stay safe.”
Peter Taylor, the Mayor of Watford, said: “This provision will help to teach people not only how to ride a bike, but also the rules of the highway and how to be a considerate cyclist.”
