A care home has received praise after being inspected for the first time since it relaunched in a new building and under a different name.

Clarendon Lodge in Croxley Green jumped two ratings after being described as 'good' following a visit by the Care Quality Commission in February.

The inspection focused on five key areas integral to the running of the home, including whether the home is safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led.

The inspection concluded residents felt safe with the care they received, and staff were "knowledgeable" about when to report concerns to safeguard people and felt they had been taught the right skills to do their job well.

Infection prevention control measures were found to be in place and staff were wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, the report added.

The CQC acknowledged the newly installed registered manager, Lorraine Allen, had implemented a lot of changes since Clarendon Lodge's move into its new building from neighbouring Croxley House.

The care home has remained under the operation of Greensleeves Care but has a troubled past after receiving an 'inadequate' CQC rating, including for safety, following a visit in December 2020.

Shortly after, the care home in Croxley House closed, but Greensleeves said that had been "long-planned" because the building "no longer met the needs of the delivery of increasingly complex elderly care".

Croxley House was subsequently listed for sale on Rightmove - and has since been sold - while residents moved into "state-of-the-art" Clarendon Lodge.

Reacting to the latest CQC report, Ms Allen said: "I am extremely proud of the Clarendon Lodge team. Each of them played an integral part in achieving this excellent result, and I am thrilled that the Care Quality Commission has recognised their hard work."
