The hypocrisy of our MP Dean Russell knows no bounds. He is pictured signing The Book of Solidarity to show support to the people of Ukraine. He holds an influential post as a Parliamentary Private Secretary to the Foreign Office. As I write this letter, the Tory Government has authorised just 50 visas for refugees from this conflict to enter Britain.
Unlike the French and German governments, the British Government has advanced no proposals for a diplomatic solution and has contributed only sabre-rattling from the side-lines. The British Government has seen fit to send arms to Ukraine and deploy increased troops to Eastern Europe. It has also declared that Ukraine has a ‘sovereign right’ to join NATO. Britain needs to change its policy and start working for peace not confrontation.
How is it actually possible that with all the noises this Government makes about supporting the Ukrainian right to self determination, it has only authorised 50 visas to refugees fleeing this conflict?
Dean Russell should be ashamed.
