Two eateries were told they required "major" or "urgent" improvement after recent food hygiene inspections.

Most places assessed between February and March satisfied inspectors, but two restaurants received scathing reports while one store was also ordered to improve.

The food hygiene scores range from zero - meaning 'urgent improvement' is needed - to five, which is deemed 'very good'.

Here are three local places that failed to impress inspectors.

Rasal Brasserie Restaurant

173A High Street, Rickmansworth

Watford Observer:

On February 2, it was found that “major improvement” was needed at the restaurant as it was given a rating of 1.

The management of food safety sparked most concern as “major improvement” was needed in that sector.

Whereas the hygienic food handling was ranked “improvement necessary” and the cleanliness and condition of facilities was considered “generally satisfactory”.

Gill’s Superstore

156 Whippendell Road, Watford

Watford Observer:

On February 3, the store was visited by inspectors and it was ranked “improvement necessary” with a rating of 2.

It was mainly the cleanliness and condition of facilities and buildings that sparked concern at the store, as that was where improvement was “necessary”.

The management of food safety was considered “generally satisfactory” and the hygienic food handling was found to be “good”.

Standard Tandoori Restaurant

208A Watford Road, Croxley Green

Watford Observer:

On February 10, the restaurant was visited by inspectors and it was ranked “urgent improvement necessary” with a rating of 0.

Specifically, both the cleanliness and condition of facilities and the management of food safety needed “major improvement”.

The hygienic food handling however was ranked “improvement necessary”.
