A council has released more images of a maggot and fly-infested property that saw its landlords fined £27,000.
The site in Northwood – split into three flats and a shop – was also found to have raw sewage, mould, no lighting, missing door handles, permanently closed windows and broken smoke alarms.
Robin and Susan Kirstein, of Berkley Avenue in west London, admitted 30 offences between them in court this month with the judge concluding the property “wasn’t fit for human habitation”.
Hillingdon Council has since released more images of what was found at The Broadway homes during the 2020 and early 2021 inspections.
Among them are hundreds of maggots strewn outside a door, dozens of dead green bottle flies and a makeshift attempt to stop leaking raw sewage with foil.
During sentencing District Judge Wright described the pair as "in way over their heads" and having "turned a blind eye to their responsibilities".
They were taken to court after refusing to provide the council with copies of their lease, tenancy agreements, management arrangements and other certificates.
Hillingdon councillor Eddie Lavery said the couple showed “scant regard” for tenants’ welfare, adding: “This property not only fell well below that mark but was riddled with hazards and dangers that could have proved disastrous.
"This sentencing serves as a warning to any rogue landlords that we'll take tough measures to ensure homes in our borough are safe and suitable for the tenants."
