A retailer has donated more than 41,000 pairs of children’s shoes with hundreds to be distributed in Watford, Three Rivers and Hertsmere.
The donation has been made by Russell & Bromley to Home-Start UK, which is a charity that supports parents facing issues including financial worries and a range of other issues.
Emma Power, chief executive of the local branch of Home-Start, said: "The families we support are so grateful for this wonderful donation of shoes. It will make such a difference. It has been so lovely to have children in our office and at our playgroups excitedly trying on new shoes."
More than 400 pairs have been delivered locally after Russell & Bromley approached the charity asking if it would like to be gifted shoes, which range in size from infant to adolescent.
Vivien Waterfield, deputy chief executive of Home-Start UK, said: "Families are already benefitting from the impact of this generous philanthropic gift by Russell & Bromley. It is a really tough time for parents right now.
"Families who would otherwise struggle to afford new shoes, or have to purchase on a buy now pay later arrangement, can enjoy seeing their children wearing a new pair of shoes without any worry."
